As is common with most passion journeys, mine started with my own self growth and transformation.
As a teenager, I struggled with disordered eating, body image and trying to achieve that “thigh gap”. I loathed who I saw in the mirror every day and engaged in extremely harmful behavior to keep my body small.
It wasn’t until I was pregnant with my first baby when I was 24 that being healthy became more than just about myself. I had this tiny person that needed me to fuel my body so that he could thrive.
I went completely the opposite direction of what I was doing and all food rules went out the window. I’m talking McDonalds French fries every day on my drive home from work. I gained 50lbs by the time I gave birth. As someone with a mentally unhealthy body image, you can imagine how damaging that was.
However, my son was my driving force to change my mentality around body image and health and I started exercising at home when he was about 4 months old. But I still didn’t understand nutrition and honestly still had a pretty horrible relationship with food.
I have tried every single nutrition fad out there, but the common denominator was that I would stick with a plan for about a month, but then I would fall off and after a while try something else. It was a rollercoaster of fad diets! I finally got sick of yo-yoing and decided to start educating myself and the more I learned, the more my passion grew, not just for helping myself but for being the support and source of knowledge for other people who also struggled in the same arena.
So, who am I? I am a military spouse. I am a personal trainer. I am a nutrition coach. I am a mom of 3. I understand that having a busy life can make you feel like you have to put yourself and your health on the back burner. I get that it’s overwhelming and sometimes feels like you are in a hole that you can’t dig yourself out of. And I’m here to help you build the steppingstones to emerge from the depths of that hole.
I won’t do it for you, but I sure as heck will be there cheering you on and giving you the tools you need to climb out.
